If you’re like most people you have thought about doing family portraits, but it just hasn’t happened. Too busy, need to lose weight, can’t get everyone together. I’ve heard it many times.

Family portraits should be an important part of your life and here are some reasons.

Our children change and grow up so fast! Take advantage of the time you have together, create memories by a professional photographer. It’s a beautiful reminder of life together.

Family portraits have the power to bring us back in time, they connect us to those who came before. Photos, like memories and stories are part of our legacy. In years to come, grandchildren and great grandchildren may someday ask to see pictures of the family, seeing these photos they become connected to their own story.

Don’t let life pass and look back wondering why you didn’t have family portraits taken.

Don’t make excuses or put it off any longer. If you have been thinking of doing family portraits, do it. Do it for your children. Your children don’t care if your hair isn’t perfect, you have a few extra kilos on, a few wrinkles or fading tan, they just want to see you and remember the moments with you. A regret for many families down the track is that they didn’t take enough photos together, it’s never the other way around!

There is a story behind every image.

If you’re looking at photos of your family, you’ll be reminded of that specific moment and behind these images is a story. What happened that morning? Where did we go? Why did we have these taken? what stage of life were we in?

You can look at these photos, and instantly feel the emotions as you did in the picture, that’s the power of a photo.

Family portraits let children learn who they are and where they fit. Portraits allow children to develop a sense of self awareness in an intuitive way, encouraging feelings of love and belonging beyond their physical presence. To help boost your child’s self-esteem in a practical way, it’s a great idea to have photos displayed in your home. These visual reminders will comfort them in the knowledge that their family is always there to support them through life. It offers kids a healthy element of sentimentality, togetherness and family pride.

Especially when kids are younger and still learning the significance of family. You may have plenty of snaps on your phone or computer, but these are only accessible once prompted. A framed portrait positioned in the home serves as a brief yet constant reminder of “this is where I belong”

Photography is great way to tell stories and capture memories. It can be a beautiful piece of art in your home or a precious moment frozen in time and that’s why photography is so important.

I am Jess and I am an award-winning portrait photographer and owner of Jessica Ross Photography. I am a wife, a mum to two amazing children, and I love to capture moments in life. I have been capturing families for twenty years, my interest in photography came from my dad who was a photographer. When I was in high school, he let me learn on his film cameras and my love for photography started there.

I specialise in portrait photography, ranging from maternity, newborn babies, children & families.

My passion in photography is to use my creativity to share the story of your family and to produce beautiful images that you will treasure forever. A special part of what I do is to capture the journey of people’s lives. From their wedding, to pregnancies, newborns, toddlers, teenagers, and then even sometimes with their grandchildren. Watching these families grow and change is such a rewarding aspect of being a family photographer. To be asked back time and time and again is such a privilege.

Awarded NSW AIPP Photographer of the Year, NSW AIPP Creative Photographer of the Year,
NSW AIPP Family Photographer of the Year Runner Up, NSW AIPP Portrait Photographer of the year Runner Up.

I’m a true believer in printing your images. An image comes alive when its printed. It becomes a tangible object, a keepsake, a family heirloom. The point of creating photographs is for them to be shared and enjoyed.

Professional photographers use the highest quality professional printing and products to guarantee the prints of your family will last a lifetime. In decades to come, these products become a family heirloom in a way that images on a screen simply do not.

Your children and family change so quickly don’t miss the opportunity to have these memories!
