Your placenta – too good to waste!
An extraordinary organ that grows for one powerful purpose, then shows itself the door?
Welcome to the magical world of the placenta!
I had heard about women honouring their placenta by planting it under a tree. Then there were cultures who consumed their placentas for postpartum recovery, and as a great believer in the wisdom of women, I needed to know more.
“Does it taste like chicken?”
Seven years as a professional placenta encapsulator has given me the experience to answer all the questions but I am still fascinated by the placenta.
Initially when introducing myself as Placenta Encapsulation Specialist or Placenta “Alchemist”, I was often met with confused silence or a million questions. However in the past five years there has been a definite shift the recognition of what we do as well as an increased interest in and acceptance of utilising the placenta as part of a mother’s postpartum care regime.
Is this due to a rise in women taking ownership of their birth story and beyond? Perhaps a greater understanding of the healing properties it holds? Or simply that they know someone who did it and thought hey, I might give it a go too!
All I know is, I love my work, the women love their capsules, and the feedback is glowing.
- Balances hormones, combatting the ‘Baby Blues’
- Increased energy
- Reduction of post-natal bleeding
- Increase milk production
- Contains protein, iron, stem cells, prolactin & B Vitamins
Whether you’ve had a history of post natal issues or just want to ensure you feel like ‘you’ again, placenta encapsulation can be a step in the right direction in taking control of your post partum recovery and being the very best version of you for your growing family.
